Stone Age art
Today we did painting Stone Age style although as we didn't have bones to use we used a sprayer. We had to keep really still when the cold paint blew on our hand. What fun we had!

Using success criteria
We have been getting very good at following instructions. In maths we call this success criteria or steps to success.
Editing skills
This morning we brushed up our editing skills. Sorting out where missing full stops go and checking the spellings of homophones.

Stone Age Hand Art
We used a paint sprayer to make Stone Age hand art. First we tried blowing the paint through a straw- Stone Age man would have used a hollow bone. This didn't work very well, so we used a spray bottle, then this broke! Then we tried using the old paint bottle to spray the paint around our hand.

New topic - Under our feet
Today we blasted our way into our new topic Under our Feet by going on an imaginary journey into a large hole in the ground.
We worked in groups and as a team made a large model of the layers of the earth using play dough.
Under Our Feet
Welcome to our new topic- Under Our Feet. We imagined that a "sinkhole" had appeared in our classroom over the half term holiday! We found out about the layers that make up planet Earth and used different colours of play dough to make a model of of it. Then we used dental floss to cut them in half to show the various layers. Then we imagined what we would see if we explored the sinkhole.

Instructional Writing Display
Our artistic talents have emerged today as we began to create our 'How to make a Healthy Pizza' display using our fabulous instructional writing, some lovely labels and some great painting and colouring.
Properties of 2D shapes - lines of symmetry and right angles
This
week we have been looking at Properties
of 2D shapes.
First
we used a mirror to find lines of symmetry in shapes.
Then
we learnt that a right angle is a quarter turn and that 2 right angles make a
half turn. Some of us even knew that a right angle is 90°!
We
made right angle monsters and went for a hunt for right angles around the
classroom. After that we looked to see which shapes have right angles or if the
angle was greater or less than a right angle.
These
were practical lessons to build on our inspire focuses.
