Performance Poetry

The children have been working all week on performing a poem with expression, pace, volume and actions. Here is the poem. Are you brave enough to perform it to your family?

The School Kid’s Rap by John Foster

Miss was at the blackboard writing with her chalk
When suddenly she stopped in the middle of her talk
She snapped her fingers, snap! snap! snap!
Pay attention children and I’ll teach you how to rap.

She picked up her a pencil, she started to tap,
All together children, now clap! clap! clap!
Just get the rhythm, just get the beat
Drum it with your fingers, stamp it with your feet.

That’s right children, keep in time,
Now we got the rhythm, all we need is the rhyme
This school is cool, Miss Grace is ace,
Strut your stuff with a smile on your face.

Snap those fingers, tap those toes,
Do it like they do on the video shows,
Flap it! Slap It! Clap!  Snap!  Clap

Let’s all do the school kids’ rap!

Kaleidoscope fun

Using our mirror magic we made fabulous kaleidoscopes.
We used a mirror in the shape of a triangular prism.

3D shapes

We had fun this afternoon building structures out of 3 D shapes. Can you remember how we describe the properties of some of these shapes that have been used?

Meet the brain in the Life education Van

We were lucky today in year 3 to have a visit to the Life Education bus. We learnt about the organs inside our body and discussed things that would be harmful and those things that help our body. We learnt how our brain sends a messages to our hand through the nervous system too!

Katie's Kaleidoscope!

Take a look at these fantastic pictures Katie and her Mum took of the view down her kaleidoscope! Katie added some sequins to the cellophane to make these amazing snowflake-like patterns. Do you think the sequins are transparent or opaque or are they shiny and reflecting the light into the mirrors? What could you add to your kaleidoscope? Try some things at home and let us know what works!

Today Holly Class went kaleidoscope crazy!

Holly class had a very busy morning finally making use of all those Pringles tubes they've been collecting! Making our kaleidoscopes involved lots of measuring, cutting, using tools, talking about 3D shapes and using our knowledge of reflection and light. It was also a great opportunity to practise our listening and teamwork skills.

Holly Class Shadow Puppets

Chestnut Class' Shadow puppet shows

Here are our wonderful puppet shows we made with the talented people from the Armchair Puppet Theatre Company. All the children had a fantastic day focusing on our Topics of  Light and Shadow and Fantasy Stories.
This would not have been possible without a generous donation from the PTA and the whole school helping us raise money from our cake sales.

Shadow Puppet Workshop

Wow! What a fantastic day Holly Class had today! The Armchair Theatre Company came to work with us to make shadow puppets, then perform a show to Year 4 and our parents. All the children worked so hard and learned lots of new skills. We also covered lots of Science objectives too! The children raised a lot of the money to fund the workshop too with help from the PTA.

Can all Year 3 children bring in small, named earphones for tomorrow's computing lesson if they have some, thank you.
