Victorian Christmas cards
Christmas cards were very popular in Victorian times. We made ours using the silhouettes we made in our light and shadows topic. We decorated them with paper doilies and wrote inside them neatly in our best Victorian copperplate handwriting.

Letters to Santa
We have looked at a letter that was found up a chimney in Wiltshire that was written at the end of Queen Victoria's reign. It was to Santa from a girl called Mabel. We have planned our own letters to Santa and cannot wait to write them tomorrow!

Today, we had a fantastic app on the iPads called Time Quiz. We were challenging ourselves to choose the correct anologue times to half past and quarter past the hour.

Look what was stuck up Mrs Clark's chimney!
Mrs Clark found a letter from a little girl called Mabel stuck up her chimney. The letter is dated 1911. Children used to write a letter to Santa Claus and put it in the fire to send it up the chimney to the North Pole. This one must have escaped the flames and survived for over 100 years. We used it to compare the presents that Mabel wanted to the ones on our Christmas lists. As you can imagine, the lists are very different!
