Weaving

In Holly class we have been learning about the 'First Farmers' and how they developed the skills of the Stone Age people and began to grow crops and keep animals. We looked at how they used fur, leather and wool to spin, weave and sew their clothes. We have started weaving, under, over, under, over!

Extra Home Learning in Holly class!

This week at home Tom has made a fantastic Stone Age - Early farmers settlement made from Lego. Can you spot the crops in the fields, the domestic dogs, and the huts?
In Computing we have been practising our skills to make a Powerpoint, so at home Daisy has made one all about herself! Fantastic efforts! :)

Bath rugby comes to Shaftesbury!

We are really lucky that over the next 5 weeks Jenny from Bath Rugby is visiting and working with us. Outside we played stuck in the mud, pirates and sumo, using all of our new rugby skills! Inside we learnt about the right foods our bodies need to be healthy.

Light detectives!

We are learning about light and Shadows in Science. This week we have investigated different light sources, looked at how light travels and reflection. We have also investigated different materials. Do you know the difference between Opaque, Translucent and Transparent?

Fractions!

Holly class have been investigating Fractions, whilst making Pizza and fruit salad. What is 1/3 of 15? What is 2/5 of 25?

Daniel in Chestnut Class brought in this amazing wasp's nest.

We found out that wasps make their nests with chewed up wood pulp, so thin that it is like paper.
Come in and have a look.
